Sometimes the end game calls for something more then just a gaff. Large tuna and swordfish over 150 pounds should almost always be taken on a harpoon. Poon harpoons have proven to be the best on the market as they are perfectly crafted with component parts that make for quick assembly and easy storage.

These harpoons have a 10� shaft that breakdown into two sections and comes with a brass dart attached to 3' of coated stainless cable for darting sharks. When darting tuna or swords you should remove the cable and attach the dart directly to 3� of 5/16� 3-strand nylon rope with a braided eye-loop on the end.

You should separately have a small basket with 300� of 5/16� rope attached to a A1 anchor ball. When you are ready to rumble just connect the dart rope to the basket rope with a loop to loop connection or better yet a long-line knot.

This harpoons breaks down into several pieces and fits nicely into a 4' bag that you can store out of the place until it is time to rumble.
